Carry-on (2024), The Dead Don't Die (2019), Kath & Kim: S401 (2007)
Wondering if I had seen something we were considering this past weekend, I thought about my failed movie blog. Were I to just write a sentence about everything, at least it would be a catalog, a personal history of bad choices. We tried watching Kinds of Kindness and I just wasn't into it. It was in a comedy carousel, and the delivery is detached and sardonic, but it wasn't funny. So we watched some other stuff over the following few days.
The Dead Don't Die (2019) - Netflix
I like Jim Jarmusch – the shark episode of Fishing with John, the weird musical, Ghost Dog. I don't like zombies. They are tired, and I am tired of them. Some funny moments here, though. Posie Juarez.
Carry-On (2024) - Netflix
Silly Netflix movie that's decent enough. Bason Jateman is entertaining as a villain and Aaron Tegerton is fine. I miss his male pattern baldness and sparkly clothes from Rocketman. The guy in the van is ridiculous - the character is ridiculous and the performance matches it, but he should have had a top hat, monocle and a pair of train tracks nearby to go with the mustache twirling. Also go gay abducted husbands who can assemble and fire high powered sniper rifles. Sometimes you got to.
"Holiday", Kath & Kim
This episode was annoying, and I get that's the point - the lack of self-awareness and boundaries. Stick to your guns, Brett! Don't look at her.
